Kurt Johnson of White Bear Lake, Minn. was awarded the Chuck Cumberlin Sportsmanship Award at the 2011 International Auctioneer Championship (IAC) competition on Friday, July 15. This year's contest took place at the 62nd International Auctioneers Conference and Show in Orlando. FL.
This was the first year the Chuck Cumberlin award was given. It was created in honor of Hall of Fame auctioneer, Chuck Cumberlin, of Brush, Colorado who passed away in 2009. Chuck was a former president of the National Auctioneers Association and a former world livestock auctioneer champion. The award is given to an IAC contestant who emulates the compassion, energy, enthusiasm and passion to help their fellow auctioneer as did Chuck Cumberlin throughout his life.”
“In the 15 years I’ve been involved with benefit auctions, I have not seen another auctioneer as gifted as Kurt Johnson. Because he’s the master of his trade, I’ve referred him to several nonprofits in the metro area and all of them have been thrilled with the results. Even the most skeptical become believers in the value of live auctions after they witness Kurt work his magic. You will not be disappointed when you hire Kurt Johnson as your auctioneer. Your guests will have more fun and your organization will make more money.”
